Sensory support breaks aren’t time away from learning, they’re what help students return to it feeling calm, settled, and ready to engage.

We know that learning unfolds differently for every child. Many of our students experience sensory processing differences, emotional dysregulation, or attention‑related challenges that can make the school day feel overwhelming. While our classrooms are intentionally flexible and responsive, we recognized the need for a dedicated space designed specifically to help students regulate, reset, and return to learning with confidence. With tools like a swing, tactile walls and crash pad in the sensory room and quiet, cozy corners in our library, students build confidence in understanding what their bodies need.

Our Sensory Room was created with guidance from an occupational therapist to ensure every feature supports regulation and sensory development. Kineo teachers have also completed training/professional development in sensory learning and student‑directed tool use, so they can help children choose what they need and feel confident using the space.
